Description
Add something very special to your garden with the captivating Amaryllis Belladonna, also known as Belladonna Lily or Naked Ladies. Regardless of the name, these trumpet-shaped blooms are a true delight. The Belladonna lily was first described by Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus in 1753.
Each stem grows to a height of 60-90 cm, adorned with multiple 7-10 cm blooms. These beautiful flowers not only catch your eye but also release a lovely fragrance. Whether for floral arrangements or vibrant garden color, Amaryllis Belladonna is a must-have.
Naked Ladies, a nickname owing to their bare dark stems holding soft pink blooms, bring flair to late summer gardens. Their striking stems set the stage for a dance of bell-like blooms that seem to twirl above the plants. Each pink petal adds to the dance, creating a charming display.
These Belladonna Lilies also thrive in containers and sunny rock gardens, reminiscent of their South African roots.
Fragrant, light-pink flowers start appearing in mid-August after the foliage retreats. They easily adapt to well-drained soil. For added cold resilience, provide winter mulch.
Belladonna lilies demonstrate remarkable resilience to drought and establish themselves as hardy plants. While they might discourage deer and rabbits, these flowers are irresistible to butterflies, hummingbirds, and people alike!
The Amaryllis Belladonna plant thrives best when basking in ample sunshine, warmth, and full sunlight.
