Description
The Begonia Boliviensis Santa Cruz variety graces your garden with its striking bright orange-red blooms, which beautifully contrast with its long, serrated green leaves. As a proud member of the Sun Cities Collection, Santa Cruz is an excellent choice for elevated container planting. It spills gracefully over the edges of hanging baskets and window boxes, adding a vibrant touch to your outdoor space. For optimal growth, choose rich, loose soil with excellent drainage. These flowers thrive when exposed to full sun or partial shade.
The Begonia boliviensis 'Santa Cruz' was introduced to the market in 2006 by Proven Winners, a plant breeding and marketing company based in Michigan, USA. The plant was developed by crossing two species of Begonia boliviensis, one with large, red flowers and the other with deep green leaves. The resulting hybrid has all the best qualities of its parents, including long-lasting flowers, attractive foliage, and heat and drought tolerance. The plant was named after Santa Cruz, Bolivia, the city where it was first discovered.
